Please Pick Up! September 7, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — doggygogreen @ 3:01 am

We all know about those people in the neighborhood who don’t pick up after their doggies…and I hope you’re not one of them! I received a “nice” note on my car one afternoon letting me know that it’s really rude to not pick up after my dogs. If only that person had taken the time to look at my nifty little poo bag carrier, they would have seen the words “iPick Up” embroidered onto it…and realized that I would never leave my dog’s you-know-what lying around.

Not only are these poo bag holders stylish & comfy (not like those plastic things from the store that smack your hand when they swing around on the leash), they are also all “green.” Coming in all sorts of colors & fabrics, some of these carriers are made from kite board sails or parachutes that have been ripped or are defective; while others are made from hemp, hemp/organic cotton mixes, or used vintage fabric. Each one is unique, but no compromise on quality!

Let’s all help each other out and keep our neighborhoods clean…and the environment by “ReUSING to ReDUCE”!

These are also available in larger sizes to carry your keys & cell phones on your walks as well.

With summer in full swing, be sure to protect your doggies from all those fleas, ticks, and bugs that seem to make their way onto their fur and then into your home!

This article from Green Pets Eco Living talks about some of the dangers of the flea treatments that use chemicals, and what ingredients to avoid:

I found this all natural repellent by Aroma Paws to be a safe alternative…plus it smells good (blended with the essential oils of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemongrass, & Clove).

My friend Emily (Strawn Photography: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Mission-Hills-CA/Strawn-Photography/35938805109?ref=ts&ajaxpipe=1&__a=9) photographed the doggies and me a few weeks ago.

Knightley looks so handsome in his recycled tie collar. These collars are made out of ties from the Goodwill, so they are all one of a kind. You can find them in our shoppe: http://doggygogreen.com/shoppe/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29819

Skate it Forward June 24, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — doggygogreen @ 9:47 pm

These one of a kind elevated feeders are made from recycled solid maple skateboard decks from the Skate It Forward program in North Carolina.

Skate It Forward is a project Meg Grogen started in Hampsted, NC to highlight skateboarding and its riders in a positive way by helping out the community through paying it forward (“Skate It Forward”).  The way it works is if a person is under 18 years old and comes up with a plan to help their community in some way–either through volunteering, cleaning up the environment, donating, or anything they think would be a worthwhile project, along with keeping their grades up in school, she will provide that person free decks to ride. When the decks are broken in, she takes them back, exchanges them for new ones, and makes the old decks into recycled feeders.

Price: $80

For more information on Meg’s project, you can check it out on facebook:

Mr. Knightley & Emma, the 2 munchkins of Doggy Go Green!

Knightley will be 12 years old this year. I’ve had him since he was a puppy. He loves long walks, chasing squirrels and rats in the yard, and sleeping the day away on his eco mat.

I adopted little Emma last year. She will be 3 years old at the end of the year. She is a bundle of energy and constantly keeps Knightley on his toes. She will fall asleep the minute you start petting her and loves to cuddle. Her favorite toy is the mini eco squeaker bone!
